Rotary International je nejstarší mezinárodní klubovou organizací na světě. Vznikla v roce 1905 v americkém Chicagu a v současné době působí ve více než 200 zemích. V 35 000 rotary klubech sdružuje 1,2 mil. členů (rotariánů) – žen i mužů, vůdčích osobností a profesionálů z různých oborů.
On May 4th, 2025, members of Rotaract Club Hradec Králové, in cooperation with Erasmus Student Network Hradec Králové and Trash Hero Hradec Králové, gathered to celebrate Earth Day with a meaningful mission - to clean up our city and raise awareness about environmental responsibility. The event brought together local students, international volunteers, and members of the community, all united by a common goal: making Hradec Králové a cleaner and greener place. The cleanup began at 13:00 at the Fakultní nemocnice bus stop (at the UHK side), from where the group made their way along the city's inner ring road toward Aupark. Along the route, volunteers collected waste from green areas between the hospital and the river, as well as the surroundings of the University of Hradec Králové. The team also tackled often-overlooked areas under bridges and around the underpass, removing trash that had accumulated over time. Thanks to everyone’s efforts and teamwork, approximately 40 kilograms of waste were collected over the course of the afternoon. The enthusiasm and determination of all participants created an inspiring and collaborative atmosphere, proving that every action can make a big difference. The event concluded at the Recy Upcy base, a local space dedicated to upcycling and sustainability education. There, participants had the opportunity to learn about upcycling practices and even try out musical instruments created from repurposed materials. To round off the day, everyone enjoyed a shared pizza meal - a well-deserved reward after hours of hard work.We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, contributed their energy, and helped us turn this idea into a successful and impactful community event. Together, we cleaned, we learned, and we celebrated sustainability in action!
