Třetí kemp, tentokrát pro mladé lidi bez rodiny z Ukrajiny, kteří byli nuceni opustit svou zem.

On 24 February, Russia invaded Ukraine. As a result millions of Ukrainians fled the country and sought a refuge in the neighboring countries, such as Poland, Romania, Moldavia, Slovakia or Czech Republic. The majority of them are women, children, elderly and disabled people. Some of them moved further west in their attempt to seek for a shelter were youngsters and children from organizations such as SOS Children's Villages Ukraine.

In April, we organized a camp for young adults without parents that had to flee from their country, from Ukraine. Theme of the camp was: "A new beginning for a better future".

The Speechless Reconciliation team decided to take an active approach in the context of the situation and applied together with their partners in the Rotary Club Ashville for a grant that would enable us to organize specific editions for the youngsters.

Group to 18 youngsters in the age of 16-22 participated in activities such as business planning and pitching, skills, talents identification, story telling, creativity and future planning. The participants of this camp became part of our bigger network of alumni and are able to take advantage of everything that our program offers.

Most youngsters confirmed this was the best week in their lives. Caretakers said that it was the first time they saw a smile on the faces of the youngsters since the start of the war, now more than one year ago. The bond which was created among all present is so strong that all are convinced it will be the basis for long term friendships & camaraderie.

The youngsters and their caretakers invited all stakeholders (including our club RC Prague International, RC Asheville and members of Rotary District 7670) to a celebration in Ukraine once the war comes to an end. In this way they would like to show their gratitude and deep respect for all who made this possible. Some of the youngsters are interested in further cooperation and development of the Speechless Reconciliation program.
