Personality disorders, often referred to as "modern diagnoses," affect approximately 6–10% of the population, primarily young people. These disorders often develop from anxiety and depressive disorders, the prevalence of which has significantly increased in the post-COVID years and, unfortunately, continues to rise.
During one of our regular meetings, Ms. Renata Tumlířová, Director of Kaleidoskop, presented the center's activities and plans for further development. She spoke passionately and enthusiastically about the importance and challenges of the work carried out by her and her team.
Following a vote, our club decided to support Kaleidoskop with a financial donation of CZK 70,000, collected from donor-members of the club. Within just two weeks of the decision, the funds were transferred to Kaleidoskop’s account. This amount will be specifically used to implement therapeutic methods in elementary schools. The aim is to train school staff teams to identify and assist children showing early signs of psychological distress, anxiety, and depression. This innovative project in the Czech Republic focuses on preventing conditions that may later develop into personality disorders.
It is important to note that borderline personality disorders, commonly known as "borderliners," have a good prognosis with proper care. However, the best approach is to prevent these and other personality disorders through effective intervention at the elementary school level.
We thank Ms. Tumlířová for her remarkable initiative, which we are proud to support!
