On March 22nd and 23rd, Rotaract Hradec Králové in cooperation with Taco Boss HK and Rotaract Prague International, organized a special event to provide warm Mexican food to those in need. The event took place in Hradec Králové and Prague, where volunteers prepared and distributed fresh burritos, offering a taste of Mexico and a helping hand to the less fortunate.
The event kicked off early in the morning at 8:00 AM, when our dedicated team gathered to prepare over 100 burritos. Each burrito was carefully crafted with a mix of ingredients, including a flavorful sauce, a choice of chicken, beef, or a vegetarian option with beans, fresh vegetables like peppers and tomatoes, cheese, and a creamy avocado sauce. Once wrapped, the burritos were ready for distribution.
By 11:00 AM, we heated 25 burritos and set off to distribute them to those in need across Hradec Králové. We started at the Futurum shopping center area, then moved along Benešova Street and Poliklinika III. Our journey continued around the bridge near Orlice Park Shopping and later to the area near Dopravní podnik and behind Kaufland. We ended the food walk near the Terminál HD (main bus terminal) and Hlavní nádraží (main train station). Along with the warm meals, we also provided cherry lemonade to ensure a refreshing drink accompanied each portion. The gratitude and smiles we received were truly heartwarming.
The following day, we continued our mission in Prague. At 10:00 AM, we began heating over 80 burritos in preparation for distribution. Once everything was ready, we embarked on our food walk across the city.
We started at Jungmannovo náměstí, proceeded through Wenceslas Square, and then split into two groups. One group ventured into the smaller streets around Havelské tržiště, while the other continued along Na Příkopě. Our journey then took us past Náměstí Republiky towards Masarykovo nádraží, with our final stop at the main train station. In total, we distributed over 80 warm meals and refreshing cherry lemonade to those in need, who deeply appreciated our efforts.
This event would not have been possible without the dedication and cooperation of our amazing volunteers, as well as our partners Taco Boss Hradec Králové and Rotaract Prague International. Working together allowed us to bring warmth, nourishment, and kindness to the streets of two major Czech cities.
