Rotary Club Plzeň-Beseda

My name is Marek Tengler and I have been a member of Rotary Club Pilsen-Beseda since 2018. I am a Youth Exchange Officer (YEO), which is a long-standing program of our club. However, in addition to youth exchanges, our club is also involved in traditional Rotary activities that include charitable and community projects for our city and region.

I am an engineer by profession. I also co-own a major Czech-American engineering firm. Here we deal with the design and evaluation, or certification, of nuclear facilities and the design of special structures with requirements for high reliability behavior in emergencies. Typically, this involves various pieces of technology for nuclear power plants, or petrochemical plants and other critical or hazardous facilities.

With a team of experts from various professions, we address on such projects both the conditions of the initial design and the situation at the operating facilities, as well as cases of removal of structures and return of sites to their original natural conditions. Such work includes the preparation of legislation, standards and codes, and of course, educational activities.

My interests are intertwined with my profession and are seasonal, non-periodic, and sports-cultural in nature. I am currently involved in skiing, abseiling, and trekking, as well as being responsible for historic vehicles and related community activities. My wife and I are planning to join the golf community this year.

Because of my work, but also because of my cosmopolitan nature, I travel a lot and have the opportunity to meet many professionals and representatives of the culture and life of different countries. I pass on my expertise, experience and life attitudes as a professional author, lecturer, mentor, godfather and father of three sons and grandfather of several grandchildren.
