29 June - 5 July 2024 was the 9th Handicamp at the Veronica Hostětín Centre. At the foot of the White Carpathian Mountains in a small village in the middle of a natural garden, 20 of us met. 10 assistants and 10 clients. One on one. A whole week of continuous care, kindness, hugs, experiences and mental relaxation. For all. We no longer see the difference between assistant and client. We're friends. We help each other with whatever is needed. That's why it's worked for us for so many years. This year, we had a beauty day - massages, manicures, haircuts and braiding, tried brain teasers, danced at a Pokáče concert, climbed the stairs to the plane our boys flew in from Nagano, learned to play golf, shoot an air rifle, and heard lots of wonderful lectures. Did you know how to drive down a hill at 240km/h? What's it like to spend a year in the US as an exchange student? We also learned about the purity of the water people drink in Africa. Emotions ran high and no one wanted to go home. We have already arranged to meet in mid-August to plan our next camp!
